Green Campus Policy

Preamble
In alignment with our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, this Green Campus Policy aims to protect and conserve ecological systems and natural resources within the college premises. It emphasizes the responsible and judicious use of environmental resources to meet the needs and aspirations of both present and future generations. Furthermore, this policy seeks to integrate environmental considerations into institutional planning, academic practices, outreach activities, and community engagement. Through this policy, the institution shall cultivate a culture of ecological responsibility, encouraging students, faculty, and staff to actively participate in building and maintaining a sustainable and green campus.

Objectives
1. To implement sound environmental management practices that guide all institutional operations and campus development initiatives.
2. To conserve and protect biodiversity, natural habitats, and ecological systems within and around the campus.
3. To ensure the sustainable use of resources, avoiding wasteful or damaging practices that threaten environmental balance.
4. To integrate environmental concerns into institutional policies, curriculum planning, research, and community outreach.
5. To foster environmental consciousness among students, faculty, and non-teaching staff through awareness programs, training, and   participative green initiatives.
6. To promote tree plantation activities and establish green belts in and around the campus.
7. To develop and maintain a botanical garden for educational and research purposes, including the cultivation of medicinal and native plant species.
8. To plant ornamental and flowering plants for the aesthetic enhancement and beautification of the campus.
9. To encourage environment-friendly celebrations, such as donating saplings or potted plants on birthdays and special occasions, to instill a sense of ecological responsibility.
10. To work towards pollution prevention and reduction, ensuring campus operations do not contribute to environmental degradation.11. To achieve environmental sustainability goals that are economically feasible and socially responsible.
12. To regularly assess and improve environmental performance, guided by measurable objectives and compliance with relevant environmental regulations.

Implementation Strategy
• A dedicated Green Campus Committee will be constituted to monitor, implement, and review green initiatives.
• Annual green audits shall be conducted to assess energy, water, and waste management practices.
• Student-led Eco Clubs and Nature Committees will be empowered to take leadership roles in green activities.
• Collaboration with local environmental organizations, government bodies, and NGOs will be encouraged for resource sharing and community outreach.
• Integration of environmental themes into the curriculum and interdisciplinary projects shall be promoted.
